Superman Returns in a brilliantly directed, written and acted movie.
There hasn't been a Superman Movie in over 18 years, so when Warner Brothers announced that they wanted to give the man in blue another shot, people were a bit mixed on the announcement, with the last superman movie, Superman IV: The Quest For Peace, being one of the worst, if not the worst superhero movie ever made. But, much to the pleasure of Superman Fans, and Comic book fans alike, Superman Returns has the spirit and action that made the 1978 Superman a instant classic.
In Superman Returns, Clark Kent (Superman) returned to earth after a 4 year absence, where he left to visit his now deserted birthplace, Krypton. But he finds out that a lot has changed during his leave, including that his sweetheart, Lois Lane, is now a mother, and is romantically involved with another man. Also back in the picture, is Superman's Nemesis, Lex Luthor, who has a new plan to take control of earth. Superman now has to stop Lex Luthor, and at the same time, try to figure out why lois lane lost feelings for him.
Superman Returns was perfectly cast. Brandon Routh not only looks like superman, but acts like him too. He'll remind you of Christopher Reeve in more then one scene. Also perfectly cast is Kevin Spacey who acts as zany as Gene Hackman in the original Superman. The Special effects, while not as good as X-Men 3's, were great, and looked extremely real.
Superman Returns takes all the mistakes that previous superhero movie, X-Men 3 (Although not officially reviewed on the site, X-Men 3 would have gotten a 2.5/5 star rating, the lowest reviewed movie on the site to this date.) makes, and you end up getting a action packed, dramatic, comic book adaption, and one of the best yet. Christopher Reeve would be proud.
