From the same game designer that designed The Sims, he is now creating one of the most anticipated games ever created. Will Wright, the legendary game designer of SimCity and The Sims, has now for two years been making Spore. He showed it to all of use at the 2005 Electronics Entertainment Expo. and now he showed us even more at this years E3.
Spore is a game that is similar to Black and White, but the again not really. In Spore you start as an one celled organism and you eat other organisms, but must avoid those that can kill you. After eating some you may be able to reproduce. When you lay an egg or are just reproducing in any way, right before it hatches you may click on it to make some improvements to it so it can survive.
After surviving for awhile you will have abilities to evolve your one celled organism and soon enough you will be a multi-celled organism swimming around or running on the land. While improving your character you must watch what improvements you add on. Ex: If you give your creature a beak or mouth with no sharp teeth it will become a plant eater, while if you give it something like sharp teeth it will become an meat eater. You can also mold everything. Ex: If your giving your creature feat you may make them small, big, fat, there are just multiple options to this.
After you have a tribe, which can be just made by making friends. You will start to make city.
The game has several levels. They are cell, creature, tribal, city, civilization and space. For each of these there are the multiple editors. The editors are creature, building, vehicle, UFO, flora, hut and terrain. So as you can see you can construct everything, from creature to plant to vehicles. So to simplify what I said before, this game is most created by the player, and the player can create the state of the art character design for its objects. As if that isn’t good enough for all you God Simulation Genre fans, you will be able to access other players creatures and planets, or something related of this. Maxis is still working on the multiplayer option.
Some great things about this are the character creation process. Another is that you can abduct creatures with your UFO. Or you can use it to take a creature and throw it. If you throw it correctly it will fly around your planet, which is just plain hilarious. Another would be how your character “reproduces”. For some view of its game play click on one of the movie links below or just check out our screenshots of the game.
