Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Platform: Wii
Improves on the DS version.
Review by Sirus

Trauma Center: Second Opinion is the Wii version of a popular DS surgeon game. The DS version is known for its insane difficulty and thankfully the Wii controls make the game more manageable. The game also gives you a selection of three difficulty modes. Of the three, normal is the same difficulty as the DS version and you are given an easy for players who can’t handle normal and hard for people who want a challenge. You can select the difficulty at any time while at the level select screen. There is also a set of levels you unlock after beating the game that are automatically set on extreme difficulty that is even harder than hard.

The game progresses through a number of missions divided into chapters. In between levels you have the option to go back and retry an older mission for practice or a higher score. The story revolves around a new doctor who is just starting to operate. The game shows his maturation into a master surgeon as he brings out his hidden power. The Wii Remote makes the game a lot easier because you can now cycle through your instruments with the analog stick on the Nunchuk attachment. The screen is also a lot larger so you can see everything that much easier. Graphically, Second Opinion is a step up from the DS version and still looks great. The voices can get really annoying so it is great that you have an option to turn off voices. They were nothing more then short blurbs that didn’t add much to gameplay. Other than those voices though, the normal dialogue is not voiced and it is not missed.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion lasts about 8 hours on the first play-through doing just one difficulty. The music in the game is fantastic and really fits the mood of the levels. Players motivated by score can easily get triple that before they get the highest rank on all of the levels on hard including the X missions. Anyone who found the DS version to be way too hard for its own good but enjoyed the gameplay should check out the Wii version. The game makes use of the Wii Remote functionality perfectly.
