TMNT
This Ninja Turtle falls on it's shell
Review by Dack

TMNT is either a children's film with the fun sucked out, an action film with terrible action scenes, or a comedy with few jokes.

TMNT begins with a promising introduction by Laurence Fishburne, detailing the back story of TMNT. Sadly, after seeing the first cheaply animated human face, any hope for a promising film begins to dwindle. It's hard to say what was wrong with the animation, sometimes it looked very nice and realistic, but when you think it's safe to admire, another shot will appear that looks more like a video game cutscene then a computer generated feature. The problems with the movie aren't limited to the cheap animation.

The story was pure unadulterated garbage. Imagine 2006's Superman Returns, and then take the coherence out of it, and you have the story of TMNT. The villain is portrayed as evil one scene, then good the next, then evil again, then good again, with a name that was possibly created for a lame joke later on in the movie.

It's hard to have compassion for any of the turtles as they aren't portrayed as lovable characters in the film, mostly resulting from a useless sibling rivarly. With a lame villain, and non-connectible heroes, it was hard to really get into the movie, resulting in my case, drifting away from the film.

The soundtrack is terrible. It's basically ten Emo-Rock songs playing in non-realistic places, such as a diner. It's obvious the filmmakers wanted to give TMNT a hip image, but adding lame Emo-Rock to scenes isn't going to get most people excited.

It's really a shame TMNT turned out to be a prime example of squandered potential. The old TMNT movies, although having many problems, were fun. You can still watch the original TMNT movie, and have a good time, due to it's the fact it was campy. Despite good influences, this Ninja Turtle ends up falling on it's shell.

Final Score: 1.5/5
