Resident Evil: Extinction
It really only manages to ruin the second film (which wasn't a masterpiece but was at least entertaining and interesting) without introducing anything new.
Review by Dack

Ali Larter said it worst on Leno: "Resident Evil: Extinction is all about two hot chicks kicking butt in the desert". Even though that is a terrible description of the plot, at least that idea might have been more interesting then what this film was really about.

Resident Evil: Extinction takes place not far after where we last left off with the second Resident Evil film, Apocalypse. Almost every character that survived the Apocalypse is back in Extinction, although they are downplayed in favor of much less interesting new characters. The best thing that Extinction has going for it is the vibe of a post-apocalyptic world. The entire earth has turned into barren wastelands, and almost everyone has been infected with the T-Virus. Characters from the last film have met up with new-comer Claire Redfield to go around trying to find survivors, in a convoy of really cool looking normal vehicles that were armored the best they could. At the same time Alice (Milla Jovovich) is doing the same, but also trying to stay off the map of the Umbrella Corporation. Unfortunately, every time a post-apocalyptic vibe is established, a generic fight scene ruins it.

Even though Extinction introduces characters such as Wesker and Redfield, and debuts the fan-favorite infected crows, it strays most from its video game roots of the three films. I would have liked to see more of Alice, who has always been the main draw of the series, but for some reason seems to be constantly downplayed here. The film does have some scary scenes, but almost all of them are the uninspired type of scene where the music stops and a loud noise happens -- but it's just a cat, and just as you are taking a breath...A ZOMBIE POPS OUT!

The lack of any real purpose is what really kills the overall movie, though. It really only manages to ruin the second film (which wasn't a masterpiece but was at least entertaining and interesting) without introducing anything new. There are worse ways to spend 95 minutes than watching Resident Evil: Extinction, and the franchise can still come out a winner overall when the inevitable fourth entry happens, but only if the director doesn't sabotage the film the way this one did.

Second Opinion
By Andrew "Thecoojo" Olander

I didn’t go into Resident Evil: Extinction expecting a masterpiece. I went in expecting a decent and entertaining zombie thriller. Most people, however will go in expecting to see Milla’s boobs, if you're one of those people don’t even bother going. So with that thought aside, I'll get into the actual review.

The awesome post-apocalyptic feel is, by far, the best part of the movie. Ali Larter plays an awesome character as her band of survivors make their way through the now barren wasteland called earth. This portion of the film reminds me of some of George A Romero’s work. Sadly, that excitement stops, and all I have left is the hope that I might see Milla’s boobs. So with my previous statements you might imagine how the rest worked out. As soon as Alice was connected with the rest of the old characters, the movie just seemed to speed up unwelcomely. There was a big fight scene which I perceived to be just another generic fight, unfortunately it was actually one of the “finale” fights.

So overall, for moviegoers and perverts alike, this movie will be a big disappointment. Even though you go in with low expectations, it still lets you down. I suggest to wait until it comes out on DVD, rent it, and watch the first 30 minutes, but make sure not to go farther than that because you will just end up asking yourself why you just spent 5 dollars to rent it. I am sorry to say, Milla, you have let a fan down.
