Ocean's 13
“Ocean’s Thirteen” isn’t a bad movie as much as it lacks any sort of drama or, if not drama, comedy.
Review by Sirus

“Ocean’s Thirteen” is the end of a trilogy which started and should have ended with the remake of “Ocean’s Eleven”. I greatly enjoyed “Ocean’s Eleven” and skipped out on “Ocean’s Twelve” because I heard it was completely boring and pointless filler. After watching “Ocean’s Thirteen” I truly began to wonder; if “Ocean’s Thirteen” was this boring can “Ocean’s Twelve” have been any worse? “Ocean’s Thirteen” wasn’t completely horrible and at first I was ready to give it time to get started because many good movies start with long, slow buildups that lead to a great buildup of suspense and some fantastic climax. When the movie hit the 1 hour mark (yes I actually was checking my watch quite frequently), I started to wonder just how much longer it was going to take to get started. Even from then to the end, the only highlights of the movie were scenes that I had already become desensitized to by the trailers.

“Ocean’s Thirteen” isn’t a bad movie as much as it lacks any sort of drama or, if not drama, comedy. There were no scenes with suspense, intrigue, or any sort of buildup. The climax, if it can even be called that, was nowhere near as satisfying as the finale in the first movie. The music in the movie had a style similar to that in the first movie but it was never given any great scenes to back it up. The only song that truly stuck out was the Sinatra song they played towards the end, which somehow was the most exciting part of the movie. There was no big twist to make me shake my head or scene that had to be explained by the actors at the end for it to make sense. If you think “Ocean’s Thirteen” looks exciting or are just a huge fan of the series, you could find yourself a decent time as long as you aren’t expecting the quality of drama that was present in the first movie. I was hoping for a grand heist and was left with something that felt like a boring two hour made for TV movie. If I hadn’t been holding out and hoping for a grand conclusion, I would have walked out halfway through.

Final Score: 2/5

Second Opinion by Dack

Ocean's 13 is a strange movie. It doesn't really have a real beginning, or a true climax. Ocean's 13 doesn't really feel like a movie, it feels like an episode of a TV series. Luckily, "Ocean's" never bores, and is a very entertaining summer movie - It's just lacking depth.

Final Score: 3/5
