No Country For Old Men
No Country for Old Men is a great movie that does everything it tries to do exceedingly well.

No Country for Old Men is a strange action movie that pits two intelligent men at each other and lets others clean up the mess they leave. Llewelyn Moss is a simple man who is retired and hunts in his spare time. On today’s hunt he spots a dog limping slowly away that he knows he didn’t shoot. He follows the clues until he spots a grouping of abandoned cars over a nearby hillside. He approaches the circle of cars and notices multiple dead bodies of humans and dogs. He follows the trail away from the carnage where he finds a dead guy with a large bag full of money next to him. Llewelyn takes the money and makes his way home. He understands that whoever’s money he just found is going to come searching for it so he tells his wife to go away to her mothers’ while he goes into hiding on his own.
It doesn’t take long for Llewelyn to realize that he is being followed. While living on the run he notices a shadowy man following him who we later are told is a psychopathic killer named Anton Chigurh(Javier Bardem). Llewelyn and Anton keep at each other until the end of the movie. Llewelyn is constantly trying to stay one step ahead of Anton while Anton miraculously finds him wherever he goes. We do get to see the perspective of the local sheriff from Llwelyn’s hometown as he does his best to put together the clues left in the small town but he works more to put the rest of the movie into perspective and remind viewers of the reality everything is grounded in.
No Country for Old Men shines most thanks to its script, which is largely taken from the novel it is based on. It takes real talent to infuse humor into a movie like this and the Coen brothers do just that. There are multiple laughs throughout the movie that should make everyone laugh at least once. If you enjoy watching deranged psychopathic killers do their thing, Bardem rises above the rest to give a chilling performance that I will remember for a long time. No Country for Old Men is a great movie that does everything it tries to do exceedingly well. The only problem I really had with the movie was the ending that didn’t really feel right.

No Country For Old Men is a breathtaking accomplishment in film. At many points the movie transcends to almost to an art form, such as in the beginning of the film where Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) is exploring a beautifully shot Texas wilderness. The movie is a thriller, and as such there are a lot of enjoyable tense scenes. The highlight of No Country For Old Men is Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem), who with his downright awesome personality and cattle gun could be a villian icon. Sadly, even though the majority of the film is perfect, the ending is poor -- one that not only destroying the pacing of the entire film, but is downright uninteresting. It's enough to knock the film down from a perfect score. Still though, No Country For Old Men is one of the best movies of the year.
