Knocked Up
"Knocked Up" may be the funniest R rated comedy in the past 20 years.
Review by Dack

"Knocked Up" is the latest comedy from director Judd Apatow, most famous for "The 40 Year Old Virgin". Knocked Up can almost be called a spiritual successor to "The 40 Year Old Virgin", as it stars many of the same actors and is comprised of the same type of raunchy, sweet, and topical humor.

"Knocked up" is about an average geeky guy Ben (Seth Rogen), who although might be popular with members of the same sex, has never been very successful with the opposite sex. One night, Ben meets the beautiful Alison (Katherine Heigl) and soon a drunk night at the club becomes a drunk night at home, leading to Ben impregnating Alison. Ben must now make the choice of if he is going to leave the fun life he's loved to take care of his baby, while at the same time Alison must decide if she wants to raise the baby with the help of Ben, or go it alone. At the same time, Alison's sister and her husband are living a dysfunctional marriage that is the only example for Alison's and Ben's relationship. Although the plot may seem like it should come out of a chick flick, it is very hilarious while staying sophisticated.

"Knocked Up" may be the funniest R rated comedy in the past 20 years. What I love about Judd Apatow's movies is that they rarely resort to having to use potty humor, or prop gags, instead opting to use humor that is sophisticated while still being raunchy and meaningful to the plot. The great thing about "Knocked Up" is that there is really something there for everyone. Married couples will familiarize with the marriage issues in the movie, while at the same time younger people will associate themselves with Ben and his friends. A man will find the raunchiness of the movie hilarious, while a woman might find the movie sweet.

"Knocked Up" is truly one of the greatest comedies ever filmed, one that will sure to be a cult classic in years to come. No matter what type of movies you like, there will be something in this movie that you will love.
