Grand Theft Auto has changed the standards of gaming drastically. A free roam third person shooter with bad morals, what more could a Mature 17+ ask for? With all of the controversy of “too much violence and sex with hookers” and the infamous “Hot Coffee Mod,” Grand Theft Auto carries a heavy load.

Rockstar has released the first installment of GTA on the PSP. Introducing, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. In GTA: LCS you play as Toni, a former Leone who wants back in after being in prison. You’re located in the infamous Liberty City that has been featured in over half the GTA games. Yes the city is complete, including all three islands: Portland, Staunton, and Shore side Vale. There are massive amounts of improvements over GTA 3 such as free aiming, character clothing, motorcycles and more guns and cars. There have also been a couple of improvements over San Andreas. You can now sprint with almost all the available weapons. There are only two or three weapons that you can’t sprint with. There are a couple of new weapons such as the chisel and hockey stick. Fortunately, the stupid RPG part of the game has been removed. Also, the storyline is back to old fashioned mobster gangs instead of GANGSTURRS! A very large improvement in my opinion. And the character and NPC movements are more lifelike than ever.

Unfortunately, wall climbing, swimming, advanced appearence changing, flying vehicles, gang recruiting, property purchasing and bikes are not featured in the game. Liberty City Stories is basically a little of all three GTA’s all in one: Liberty City from GTA 3, motorcycles, clothing, physics and jumping from Vice City and free aiming from San Andreas.

The map is pretty much the same as GTA 3, not that many HUGE improvements, but nonetheless, viva la Liberty City, BABY!!!
