Dead to Rights: Reckoning

The graphics in "Dead to Rights" are the only good thing it has going for it.
Review by Dack

"Wow" was one of the first thoughts to come to my mind after seeing the screenshots for "Dead to Rights: Reckoning". I thought the screenshots were first mislabeled, and were really screenshots of the PS2 game. "Dead To Rights: Reckoning" looks stunning, even as good as some of the best PS2 games. Sadly, the graphics in "Dead to Rights" are the only good thing it has going for it.

When I popped "DTR" in my PSP, I was expecting a great handheld "DTR" game. The main menu came up, which was nicely done. I selected “New Game” and started my forty-dollar quest into the one of the worst PSP games ever made. After less than a minute of cut scenes, the game started. The controls seemed very nice: you could run, jump, and do other fun moves. After getting the controls down, I went to the first area with enemies. I locked onto my first enemy, did the four-button bullet time jump, and started firing, or should I say trying to fire. The games bullet time is extremely useless. With the terrible camera angle, it is very hard to see where you’re shooting and where you're landing. I hoped that even though the bullet time was dissapointing, there would be other fun and interesting ways to fight. How wrong I was.

"DTR" has no other useful fighting options. The only fighting style that worked was locking onto targets, shooting the gun, and shadow attacks. Here is what we are left with: open a gate or door, and press “L” to lock on, hit “X” a lot, and move to the next area. I did this for about an hour, and then the credits rolled. Wow, this game was terrible. They did not get anything right at all, and it was the first game I’ve played that actually made me more bored then I was before I played it.

The Bosses in the game actually put up a challenge, but then I figured out you could just hide behind something, and keep ordering shadow to attack, then the boss would die (A shadow attack is when you hit the “R” button and your dog kills or hurts the enemy).

Konami wanted this game to come out ASAP and look good, so only spent their time on graphics and environments, and totally ditched the gameplay. "DTR" is one of the worst PSP games ever made.
