Dead Silence
Dead Silence is quite the scary movie

Dead Silence is the latest movie by James Wan, the mind behind the first Saw movie. Anyone who saw the first Saw film knows that, compared to other more recent horror movies, Wan takes an approach that’s a little light on the gore. He knows how to use gore more sparingly to create a much different kind of horror. Dead Silence is the story of an old town haunted by the ghost of a woman named Mary Shaw. The legend that comes in the form of a rhyme warns residents that if they see Mary Shaw in their dreams they had better not scream or she will rip their tongue out at the seam. Jamie and his wife Lisa are having a normal day in their apartment when a strange unmarked package appears at the front door. They open it to find a ventriloquist dummy and the events that follow lead Jamie on a quest to figure out the truth behind it all.
Dead Silence is quite the scary movie, especially for those who find dummies terrifying. It takes the jump scares one step further in the right direction and draws out the terrifying moment with some of the most disturbing images I have ever seen. Wan really knows how to send chills down the audience’s spine. I must have been shivering in my seat multiple times looking into the face of the devil. The music in the movie is totally beautiful and sets the mood perfectly. It takes the traditional bass-heavy, horror movie music and mixes it with beautiful piano melodies for great results. If you are tired of the recent gore-filled trend in horror movies, you might find Dead Silence refreshing and scary. If you are intrigued every time you see the trailers for Dead Silence then you likely don’t need me to tell you to watch the movie. I felt like that and found it to be one of the most bone chilling experiences in a while.
Final Score: 4.5/5
