“Casino Royale” is the latest James Bond movie with a new face on Bond. Daniel Craig plays a very cold, detached, emotionless Bond in a movie that gets rid of most of the silly gadgets the other films are known for. “Casino Royale” starts out with an African “freedom fighter” group who goes to a certain man to let him hold on to their money for them. We then cut to Bond in some foreign country where he chases after a suspect who ends at an embassy with explosive results. After following a few more leads, Bond gets to participate in a high stakes poker game in Casino Royale. The movie has a fitting conclusion to all the events it starts.

Having never seen a Bond movie before, I went into “Casino Royale” with low expectations and a certain idea of what Bond would be like. I found Daniel Craig to be the perfect Bond who was totally cold, just like I like my main characters. The movie has a couple flashy chases; one of my favorites was in the airport. Viewers who like the more playboy style James Bond from previous movies, might not like the new Bond but should watch it any way because it is really a great action movie.

Fans of action movies like “Mission Impossible” and previous James Bonds, as well as anyone looking for a fun, tense, rollercoaster ride should absolutely check out “Casino Royale”. The characters were all believable in their roles. Viewers who like watching poker tournaments on TV and enjoy action movies should check out “Casino Royale” for the poker playing alone. Although that is not a huge focus, it is still quite tense. Overall, “Casino Royale” is a fun movie that is well worth the ticket price.

Second Opinion by Dack:

Casino Royale was amazing. Plain and Simple. It is one of the best Bond movies made, if not the best made. Has great action, great acting, and a great screenplay. Daniel Craig Did an amazing job at portraying Bond. Basically, if you like movies, there's something for you in Casino Royale.

Dack's Score: 5/5 stars

Third Opinion by Kiwi:

There's a lot of things one can use Casino Royale's acronym, CR, for. For example, Casino Royale is Cooly Redeeming for a franchise that was becoming CRap lately. Daniel Craig's not the best Bond, but this is one of the best Bond films to date, and he deserves a lot of CRedit for his acting style in portraying the darker side of an unrefined Bond. A few critics have jokingly called this Bond Begins, in reference to Chris Nolan's Batman Begins from last year and the way it revitalized the Batman franchise. Funny enough, they've pretty much hit the spot with that comment - Royale dropped the silly gadget trend of the latest films and made things serious. All of the gambles paid off; Craig's first outing as Britain's ultimate superspy is a CRassic performance, and the film hit the jackpot in every way.
