Black Sheep
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeep!

“Black Sheep” tells the insanely unbelievable story of a bizarre collection of events that occur around a sheep farm in New Zealand. The movie starts out with a short look into what life was like on the farm 10 years ago when the main characters were much younger. The main thing we get from the beginning is an understanding of what happened to cause the main character, Henry, to develop his fear of sheep. Now, 10 years later, Henry has returned to the farm to sell off his portion of the estate and tie up loose ends so that he can go on with his life. At the same time, a pair of animal rights wackos is preparing to sneak into the farm to gather evidence of the genetic they believe is going on. In the process, they end up releasing what appears to be a baby sheep. This lights the fuse that starts off the insane chain of events that is the rest of the movie. The movie expects us to believe that this test tube sheep’s bite has the power to turn sheep into bloodthirsty carnivores and humans into sheep. The premise itself is so insane that even I had a hard time suspending my disbelief of the situation.
Somehow, the flat out insanity that is the movie’s plot ends up positive. There is something absolutely hysterical about watching large numbers of sheep tackling humans and taking a bite out of them. The best way to describe this insane movie is a combination of Dead Alive and a traditional zombie flick. “Black Sheep” is able to create an insane blend of extreme gore and humor that isn’t present very often. While I myself wasn’t laughing out loud very much, the audience around me seemed to be having a great time, laughing at every other scene. “Black Sheep” certainly isn’t for the squeamish as it has some extreme gore and almost never turns the camera away. Anyone who is in the mood for a movie they probably won't be able to take seriously and who has an appetite for gore should certainly watch “Black Sheep” if for nothing else than for the ending that is just as extreme as the audience will expect. The movie is sure to garner a cult following even though it only creeps above good during the gore.
Final Score: 3/5
