Holy shitting dicks, "BioShock" looks fucking amazing.
Preview by Undead Wes

I just played the BioShock demo, and holy shitting dicks, that game looks fucking amazing. If what little I played is any indication, it's seriously going to be the best game released for the 360, so far. And by far. It's not only fun, but it's beautiful, and reeks of complete, loving care. Everything is decked out in glorious art deco, and it looks like they didn't just use normal mapping to hide the fact that the game looks like shit, as they do with Stranglehold. It's so pretty. The gameplay is fairly standard, at least in the demo, compared to other first person shooters, but it's such a pleasure to behold that I don't give a damn.

The atmosphere is perfect. The game starts you out on a plane, and you're just watching your dude's hands while he smokes a cigarette and looks at stuff, but then everything goes dark, and you hear screaming and the horrible bending and cracking of metal as the plane goes down. Next thing you know, you're underwater, and you're looking around at shit flying past you, then your character makes a mad dash towards the surface. It's at this point, where you're looking at the wreckage, that you are so mesmerized that you don't even realize you're playing yet. There is fire on the water, debris floating everywhere and flying down, and the reflection of the water is nearly flawless. After sitting there for a moment, you realize you're looking at the game in real-time, and you start swimming. Off in the distance you can see the plane's tail section slowly sinking into the water, and near it, a building juts out from the water, with the full moon peeking out from behind it. You approach the building after you watch the plane sink and look at the fire some more(because it's just so dang purty), and there is a ramp leading to an open door. When you reach the door, there is nothing but blackness beyond with a little light pouring in through the opening. When you go in, spooked as hell, the door slams shut behind you, and lights come on, revealing a statue of a man and some giant sign that says something about how there is no god, only man, or something. It's spooky, and then you descend, and you go into this thing that takes you down into a beautiful underwater city that jumped right out of 40s noir.

Beyond this, you find out there are a bunch of dudes that want to kill you, and you can shoot lightning from your hand. It's fucking brilliant. I could go into more detail, but just play the game. I don't want to spoil anything else.

Purchase this game, if you have a 360. It will be well worth your money.
