District B13 is the best action movie of the 21st century so far. Period.
Paris, 2010. An isolation wall surrounds the ghetto cities. One of the worst part of the ghetto cities, is District B13. Without effective law enforcement, within these walls, gang rule is absolute. Damien (Cyril Raffaelli) is a member of an elite police squadron, a special unit highly trained in martial arts and the precise physical skills necessary to navigate the treacherous urban landscape of Paris' future. He is now tasked with the most vital and dangerous mission of his career: to retrieve a loose nuke stolen by the most powerful gang of District B13. Leïto (David Belle), a vigilante criminal whose only goal is to save his sister from the clutches of the same gang, knows District B13 like the back of his hand. Assigned to infiltrate the sector to defuse the bomb, Damien must convince Leïto to join his cause.
District B13 makes all the previous action movies released as of late, look like garbage. Recently Mission Impossible 3 was reviewed on Marvel-Ous. We gave it 5 stars. If Mission Impossible 3 gets 5 stars, this movie, which makes MI3 look like child plays, deserves a 10. From the moment the movie starts, with a super fly techno soundtrack made by french rap group, Da. Octopusss, you know you are in for a thrill ride. This ride straps you in, and won't let you go. The action scenes are literally jaw-dropping. All the stunts are real, no wires, no special effects, real martial arts. Infact, there weren't even stunt doubles. Cyril Raffaelli (stunt choreographer for Transporter and Transporter 2) and David Belle did them all, and looked awesome doing them.
It's really hard to crticize District B13 in any way. B13 is a French movie, realeased a few years back in other countires, but thankfully, they decided to subtitle it, and not dub it for the north america release, which would have made some of the dialogue, which is fairly sparse, look cheap.
If you are tired of the same old action movie with special effects everywhere,.and juggernaut hollywood actors, then give District B13 a viewing, a smart action movie, with polictical inferences, but mostly Kick Ass stunts.
