Iron Man vs. Speed Racer: Reloaded.
About Us
The Story:
It all started in a university computer lab in the winter of 2004. Dack and Kiwi, among other comrades, used to meet at the University of Arizona's Computer Lab. We researched, read about, and watched videos about video games. We started to get aggravated about the massive advertisements on the gaming sites, and the boring, and usually biased, content. We wished there was a site that didn't have giant ads, and interesting content, written by people who we know were real hardcore gamers. Well, we couldn't find one, so we thought all hope was lost.
Fast forward to December 2004. We stopped going to gaming sites now, since we just couldn't take it anymore. So one day, while browsing the internet at home, Dack had a thought: "The world has a need for an independent gaming site with quality superb content." It might’ve been the ramen, or the 13 Mountain Dews talking, but regardless, that night Dack made a Freewebs site. The site wasn't very pretty; it pretty much said "Marvel-Ous" and had a preview of some Final Fantasy game. A few days later, Dack met with Kiwi at the lab, and he showed him the site. Kiwi thought it was great, and said he'd gladly join Dack’s cause. So now, with Kiwi's motivation and help, we added sections, and a forum.
All of our friends got interested in the project, and the word began to spread like crazy. Soon, we were pretty known, and the site was… well, lame. Sure, we had great reviews, and content, but the site was small, ugly, and had glitches galore. Even though the site wasn't pretty, we got tons of feedback from the site. But, with more demand, more work occurs. It was just too much for Dack and Kiwi, so they got burnt out and quit. Then in May 2005, Dack was looking at the site and thought "This site rocked, why not bring it back". That's exactly what he did. Dack told all of his contacts and posted about it on message boards. Three people liked the project, and agreed to come on board. Kiwi agreed to come back, and we were making a lot of content, and were far too big for a free site. After all, that's not a real site. So on June 2nd, 2006, we totally scrapped the site, but kept the reviews, and wrote brand new code, and started to put it up on a domain that Dack purchased which, of course, was www.marvel-ous.com. On June 14th, 2005, we re-opened, with the promise of offering the best objective and independent reviews and previews on the net.
So what has Marvel-Ous done in the past year? A lot: apart from adding on several new staff members, we've branched out into more areas of entertainment, covering not just games and movies, but TV and music as well. We've changed our look again - everything is more streamlined and quickly accessible to be delivered to you. Marvel-Ous has reached the top of its game in 2007, and we're not gonna be coming down for a long, long time.
The Creed:
We Are An Independent Gaming Site. We will
always be an independent gaming site. We aren't going to become part of CNET. We will offer as much content as we can, quality content. We are trustworthy, we will never give a game a worse, or better score than it deserves. We will never have giant annoying ads, just small ads that are good for you, and Ous. Our spirit and determination will never die. Although gaming might be our religion, we can't deny that we love movies too, so we will always have a movie section featuring reviews of the latest and most interesting movies. As long as you keep going to the site, we will keep making it. We will never ask you for money, we don't need money (although we do want it!). We will always be in touch with our visitors, and most of our staff will gladly talk to you on AIM,
the forums, or E-Mail.
