Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theatres
ATHFC is the best mindless incoherent comedy in years.
Review by Dack

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters (which from now on will be abbreviated as ATHFC) is the big screen adaption of Adult Swim favorite show, Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The show is only 11 minutes long - which is its strong suit, allowing the whole episode to be one joke stretched over the whole episode. The movie is nearly 90 minutes long, so how far can a joke run without turning stale? The answer is pretty damn far.

If you‘ve never seen ATHF on television you might be really lost in the movie. The movie is about a milkshake, meatball, and fry container who live together and do very random, and I stress random, things. Many TV to big screen adaptations have tried to take shows and turn them into an epic movie, but ATHFC mostly takes its characters and puts them in random situations, which keeps the spirit and strong points of the show alive. The movie falters a few times, and becomes a bit unfunny and tedious - both parts being when it tries to be coherent. It’s hard to explain the plot without spoiling jokes, so a basic summary of the plot is that a giant robot is terrorizing New Jersey with a techno song fueling its rampage, and it’s up to the Hunger Force, and a few guests to bring it down. Almost every character in ATHF makes an appearance in the movie and only a few new characters are introduced, one being a giant chicken voiced by Bruce Campbell.

ATHFC is hilarious. It might be one the funniest movies in recent history. Every joke that is funny however, has nothing to do with the plot, so if you think jokes need to be in context with the story to be funny, you will not like this movie. A lot of people will despise the movie, but all of those people won’t understand what it’s trying to do, make you laugh, and have a good time, and while movies that make you think are good, mindless humor is one of the best ways to be entertained, and ATHFC is the best mindless incoherent comedy in years.

Final Score: 4/5
