Free Games

Is there a such thing as free games? Of course there is you just need to go ahead and take a good look around you, breathe in the role playing game air and sit down. I'll tell you right now that there are two types of free video games. We have the legal and illegal free video game sections.

Video games such as Soldat, Conquer Online, Silk Road, Kingdom of Loathing and Enemy Territory are all free video games that you may find on the internet with a quick google search. There are most likely more free video games that are legal but these are the best as from what I have seen. I recommend these games if you don't have money or want to try them out.

Soldat is a 2 dimensional shooter that can be downloaded in two different languages, Polish or English. You can host your own server, or play on others. If you want more power, you can pay to get full version, which gives you the ability to choose a different color for your rocket flames and a couple other things besides that.

Conquer Online is a 2d-3d like role playing video game. You choose from becoming a warrior, an Trojan, an archer or an Monk. You choose from a nice selection of servers so your almost never lagging ( if you have cable you will never lag). The ability to reincarnate you character after gaining an acquired level, which give your guy more power is a real nice twist to role playing games. You can form your own clan, mine, own a house, customize clothes, weapons and you hair as well as choose from a selection of different clothes, weapons, and hair. You may also trade items or give them away. You can also become a female or male as well as marry. You may choose to play on one server, on multiple or all. The community is very polite to newcomers as well as giving back to long time players.

Silk Road is a 3 dimensional role playing game. Its graphics are very good and game play is great but you might suffer from lag depending on where you live. From the beginning you choose how your character looks like and what type he is. The game is very addictive and very fun to play. On a side note that you might want to remember is that you need to have your Direct X at its fullest so you an see the graphics on the game.

Kingdom of Loathing was actually made as a joke, and that's exactly how it looks like. I don't really know what category to put it under as you do not actually download anything, but you play on you IE, Firefox, or whatever browser you have on you computer. If anything I would have to say that's it's a role playing game if anything. When creating your person you choose to be a female or male and then choose from several options what type you want him to be. Then you level you guy up my completing missions. You can chat with other people in the game in a chat room and also trade with them. You can also person versus person other people in the game even if there not on. You can join a clan or even create your own and get equipment for it so you can attack other clans. Instead of a house, you will have a campground at the beginning of the game. You can acquire multiple items to put there so you will be safe from attackers.

Now Enemy Territory from Wolf. is a great first person shooter. Graphics aren't the best I have seen on a game but there good enough. Game play is good also, except for the unfortunate lag from time to time. There's nothing really to say about it, but that if you like shooting games this one is something you really need to go ahead and try out.

Now for illegal games, all I have to say is ROMS. ROMS are better then anything else, by my opinion. Surprisingly only games like Mario, or related characters to him that would star in a game are illegal to distribute but ROMS its self are called illegal. You may actually get any ROMS you want if you actually have the game, which is pretty good for me as I have a great collection of oldies.

Before I go on I would just like to say that to run a ROM you will need an emulator. So if you are trying to run say Super Smash Brothers for N64 ROM then you need a N64 emulator.

Now as I went in search of news for ROMS, I found out that they actually made N64 ROMS workable, also the PlayStation and Nintendo DS. So as I have my N64 in old age now, I went and downloaded the best emulator that there was and went in search of Pokemon games (Yes, I like Pokemon games, its sad isn't it.). I download those as well as SSB and Golden Eye, James Bond. (Please remember that as long as you have the original copy your not producing an act of crime.) I also found out that on certain emulators you may go online with your games and play against other players. So this is like a little taste of what Wii, hopefully, will let us do. If you want to play some of your favorites try www.coolroms.com, it is a very good website. You won't find any better emulators or ROMS anywhere else.
